Nebraska Folklore, Folk-lies, Fakelore
Nebraska Humanities Council speaker, Winfied Delle, will present the program Nebraska Folklore, Folk-lies, Fakelore on Thursday June 18th at 6:30.
A variety of visuals will be used to illustrate a wide range of popular Nebraska folklore and show how folklore has been utilized for people’s benefit and sometimes to their
detriment. Included are stories and songs about weather, fertility, animals and people, as well as a 19th-century stock scandal that began as a rumor and grew to monstrous proportions.
This family night program will appeal to all ages.

What's Happening at the Library
The Friends of the Library would have never imagined when we started fundraising for the new library building how successful the rummage sales would be.
This spring marked our 10th sale with a combined profit of over $16,500.00! To date this money has been used for construction of the new building, furnishings,
computer expenses and summer reading programs. Many of these things would have never happened without the generosity of our community and the dedication to all of those who help with these extraordinary sales.
Be Creative @ your Library is the 2009 summer reading theme. To kick off we will have registration and an "Instrument Petting Zoo" on Tuesday June 2nd from 10-12.
Everyone will get the chance to try out the instruments while signing up. Pre-registration is important so that we will have enough supplies for all the children that attend. Book bags , sponsored by the Friends of the Randolph Public Library and the Randolph Community Club, will be handed out at this time. This year we will have demonstrations in TaeKwonDo , Yoga/Pilates, Outdoor Cooking, and photography as well as stories, games, crafts and activities.
"Year of Wonders" will be the topic of our book discussion group in May. This book, set in 1666, is about a young woman that comes of age during an extraordinary year of death. Inspired by the true story of Eyam, a "plague village" in the hill country of England. A noon meeting will be held on May 20th and if there is enough interest we will also host an evening group that same day at 6:00. For more information or a copy of the book stop in the library.
"Hotel for Dogs" will be our next children's movie. This film is rated PG with a run time of 100 minutes and will be shown at 1:30 on May 9th. Everyone is welcome to join us for this newly released movie.
The Woman's Club will be hosting a program on Senior Women's Health Issues. Dr. Mwebe will be giving a presentation. This program is open to the public and will be held on May 11th @ 7:30 in the libraries meeting room.
The library will be closed on May 25 in observation of Memorial Day.
